Should We Invite This Guy?

Hello Yardbarkers. I came across this article by a writer for the Baltimore Sun named Childs Walker. It's full of mid-season buy/sell fantasy advice that seems to have some good analysis behind it. I was about to invite him to join the Yardbarker community, but I thought first we should get a little discussion going about the merits of his advice. What do you think? Is Felix Hernandez 1 K per inning enough to make him an undervalued trade target? Is his projection that Jason Isringhausen "may be due for a bad fall" credible? Is it true that "Soriano's stock will never be higher than it is right now"? Let's disect this guy.

  Childs doesn't make any mistakes in this column as I agree with all players assessments in regards to who has over or underachieved in 2006. It's a well written column and while I think he's on target with his second half projections, he could have taken it one step further and discussed the psychology of the fantasy sports owner. For example...
  
  Jason Isringhausen is on pace to have more walks than in any season of his career with the exception of his 1996 campaign....when he was a starter for the Mets. There is definitely reason for concern. He's also had only one season of 40 or more saves (47 in 2004). He's currently on pace for 55. Many owners see Izzy as their RP stalwart, but they should see the opposite. Just because he has 24 saves now, it DEFINITELY doesn't mean he'll continue to close out games at that pace. In fact, there is no reason to think he'll save more games than any other closer the rest of the way...yet his value is completely inflated right now and a trade could net you a better closer and another player. Not often enough do fantasy owners trade what is percieved to be their best player for what will be the better player(s) down the stretch.
  
  The same should be said for Soriano as Childs says, his value couldn't be higher. Too often owners look at stats already accumulated before a trade instead of what stats they will accumulate from here on out. Soriano isn't going to hit 52 HR's this year, a pace he's currently on. Trade him.
  
  I think Childs knows his stuff. He's on target with all his evaluations. Invite him!

  I'm not sold on David Bush, young team with a terrible defense. This guy is right though on most of these predictions.

  If this is open to anyone now. (which I believe it is) then there is no reason not to invite a guy who deals wiith sports for a living.

  I disagree with the Soriano comment. Once he gets his consistent 40-40 and learns the outfield better, he will go way up.
