New Design and Features!
It's been a while since we've given an update on the progress we've been making on the product, and by now you've definitely noticed. We've updated the interface design, doing our best to keep the good bits and give the rest a facelift. We think the result is a more vibrant, sophisticated, and fun product. I know the team enjoys using the product more. Part of the redsign is a stronger emphasis on posting links as the primary means of contributing content to the site. We've spent a lot of time on sports blogs, local news websites, and message boards, and we've realized this: there is a TON of great sports content out there. What's missing is a single place that aggregates all that stuff, making it easy to find, discuss, and vote on, so the best content surfaces to the top. We've expanded Yardbarker beyond just baseball and football -- you can post links and discuss anything related to any sport. We've also added a section called the "Backyard," where you can post anything at all that you think the community might be interested in. Yardbarker is a site for sports fans, but that doesn't mean that everything on the site has to be about sports. Personally, I'm curious to see what shows up in that section. Since that most of the original content is going to come from outside of Yardbarker, the ability for Yardbarkers to comment on an original post is extremely important -- this is where the community's voice will really be exposed. To that end, we've made commenting easier and more useful. You can now add a comment directly in-line from a list of articles, and you can now comment on comments, and rate them. There are some more little improvements too -- I'll let you find them. As always, let us know what you think!
