Owen Caissie's Play is Drawing National Attention
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Entering the 2023 season, Owen Caissie's season began with representing his home country of Canada in the World Baseball Classic. After recording three hits in three games for Team Canada, Caissie was primed for a breakout season at the Double-A level with the Tennessee Smokies. Caissie's 2022 season with High-A South Bend was solid, but 2023 has been even better.

In 86 games with Double-A Tennessee, Caissie is slashing .288/.391/.556 with 20 home runs, 22 doubles, and 69 RBI. In fact, he is having one of the greatest seasons for a 21-year-old since 2006 at the Double-A level. Some of the names on the list are impressive to say the least.

Caissie is rising up the ranks of the Cubs' system. Although players such as Kevin Alcantara, Alexander Canario, and Pete Crow-Armstrong are all drawing a lot of attention, Caissie is another name that NEEDS to be in the conversation. When looking at the numbers, PCA and Alcantara are producing, but Caissie's numbers are just as good or better than the higher ranked prospects.

Caissie is not just loved by those within the Cubs fanbase. In fact, he's gaining some attention from the Just Baseball guys as Aram Leighton gave Owen Caissie some love.

"One of the most underrated power bats in the minors." That is pretty high praise on the national level. The thing is, he's right. Caissie is severely under appreciated not only nationally, but by the Cubs fanbase as well. Numerous fans were ready to trade Owen Caissie at this past deadline. He's a lefty, just 21 years old, and has immense power that can translate to the MLB level at some point in the future.

Keep your eyes on Owen Caissie Cubs fans, he's got the potential to be great down the road. At this pace, we could see him as early as 2024, but more realistically in 2025.
