Corey Heim once again proves he's the hottest prospect in NASCAR

After extreme levels of rain pushed the final 170 laps of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race to Sunday, many fans wondered how the delay and rescheduling of the event would affect the drivers' mentalities.

It didn't affect Corey Heim, who, with a dominant victory at North Wilkesboro, once more proved that he's the hottest prospect in NASCAR.

The 21-year-old led 66 of the race's 250 laps, securing his third victory of the 2024 season and his ninth top-10 finish in the series' first 10 races of the year.

Heim has led at least 66 laps in the last three races, leading 79 in a victory at Kansas and 77 at Darlington before a crash relegated him to a 28th-place finish.

If you throw out his DNF at Darlington, Heim's average finish this season is an unbelievable 3.2. Even when you take his poor result at Darlington into consideration, his average finish only rises to 5.7, a mark that easily rises above that of his competitors.

Heim has made a living this season off of his incredible racecraft, weaving his way through the field with ease every week. He only started 12th at North Wilkesboro, but once he found his way to the front, there was no stopping the driver who has quickly moved up the proverbial draft boards of NASCAR team owners.

Heim already has two Cup Series races under his belt, substituting for Erik Jones at both Dover and Kansas earlier in the month, and has 10 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts as well. If a promotion was to be in order, it would certainly be deserved.

Heim's consistency in the Truck Series has been unrivaled since he burst onto the NASCAR scene in 2022. After running three races in the Truck Series in 2021, Heim ran 16 races during the 2022 season. Not only did he win twice during his part-time 2022 campaign, but Heim also put together six top-fives and 10 top-10's, good enough for a 14th place points finish despite not running in seven races.

In his first full-time year in 2023, Heim was even better. While he only visited victory lane thrice, he won the regular-season championship by a landslide despite missing the race at Gateway. In 22 starts, Heim made the Championship Four and racked up 19 top-10 finishes as well as 611 laps led.

Heim has already equaled his wins from 2023 this season, grabbing three trophies in the first 10 races of 2024 at three vastly different racetracks. If not for his wreck at Darlington — which isn't to be blamed on Heim himself — he'd likely be leading the regular-season points standings.

While it's true that success in the lower series of NASCAR doesn't always translate to the grueling world of the NASCAR Cup Series, Heim is the Truck Series championship favorite for a reason: he can win in anything he gets in.
