Dallas Cowboys' 3 biggest needs heading into Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys did a great job addressing their needs at offensive line by grabbing future left tackle Tyler Guyton (29th overall) and potential starting center Cooper Beebe (73rd) and were able to find much-needed depth at EDGE by grabbing Marshawn Kneeland at 56th.

Additionally, they selected LB Marist Liufau at 87th, crossing off yet another one of their top needs in Day 2.

Heading into Day 3 however, the Cowboys still have many needs to address. It'll be a challenge since they don't have a fourth rounder and will be picking late in the fifth. Let's dive into the Top 3 needs the team could look to address.

1. Wide Receiver

Even though most people were focused on offensive line and other defensive needs entering the draft, the Cowboys need wide receiver depth for 2024 and beyond. Brandin Cooks, 30 years old, is in a contract year and Jalen Tolbert is still a question mark.

In an 11 personnel league, you can never have enough wide receivers. The second round might be the best spot to pick in terms of value of this year's class.

Potential options: Troy Franklin (Oregon), Devontez Walker (UNC), Brenden Rice (USC)

2. Running Back

It's true: The Cowboys have no starting running back on the roster and they absolutely need to address the need in this year's draft. This could be higher up on the list but only drops this far for me because of positional value.

A lot was made about the Cowboys very likely picking Jonathon Brooks at 56th overall. Not only did it not happen, but they walked away from Day 2 without one despite owning two third rounders. The good news is there are still plenty of backs on the board for Day 3.

Potential options: Jaylen Wright (Tennessee), Bucky Irving (Oregon), Ray Davis (Kentucky), Blake Watson (Memphis)

3. Defensive Tackle

I dropped this need below running back after the Cowboys picked a linebacker in the third and an edge rusher that is good versus the run, as I feel better about the front seven.

But the Cowboys currently have Mazi Smith as their only legit bet on a nose tackle and even their three-technique depth is thin despite having a high-end starter in Osa Odighizuwa. Having a top-tier iDL group goes a long way in making linebacker play look much better.
