Inter captain and Serie A top goalscorer Lautaro Martinez is still in talks over a potential new deal with the Nerazzurri, but the latest updates suggest that his salary demands may exceed the €10m mark.

The soon-to-be-crowned Capocannoniere for 2023-24 has reportedly been in discussions over a new deal with Inter for several months.

Initial talks were held in Madrid before the team faced Atletico in the Champions League round of 16 from March, but since then, updates have been few and far between.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Lautaro Martinez and Inter’s representatives were last in contact a matter of days ago.

Lautaro Martinez reported salary negotiations

Tuesday’s report indicates that the Argentine striker is asking for a significantly increased wage packet, which could exceed the €10m mark per season.

Reports earlier in the year from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that Inter were prepared to offer a sum of around €8m annually, but Lautaro Martinez’s requests began at €10m.

According to Calciomercato, there is no doubt from the Inter camp that they will be able to eventually agree a new deal for the 2022 World Cup winner.

The player is also some way off being able to run his contract down, as his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
