AC Milan’s January business might not be done after the signing of Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona but a striker is unlikely to arrive, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) has taken stock of Milan’s three transfer market targets for this winter transfer window, namely Lilian Brassier, Jhon Durán and Matija Popovic.

Geoffrey Moncada, Milan’s technical director, spoke to Sky before the Empoli game yesterday and he seemed to confirm the interest in Brassier by revealing that he has been following him for around five years.

The trail that leads to Durán of Aston Villa seems to be a bit cooler after Sky launched the story on Friday, as Moncada himself seemed to deny the idea of a striker arriving.

“We have Olivier Giroud and Luka Jović , they are our two number nines. They’re doing well, they’re scoring. We can’t always look for players on the market, we have them and we have to exploit them,” he said.

Despite this, Popovic could still join because he is 18 years of age, could sign with Milan on a free transfer and is seen more as a profile for the future. The Serbian’s contract with Partizan Belgrade has expired, but he would occupy the second non-EU slot.

Ever since the year 2002, there has been a regulation in place regarding Serie A clubs and how many non-EU players they are allowed to register per season. We explained how this affects Milan’s current situation in a recent feature.
