Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of defenders in recent months.

They did well to improve their defensive unit with the signings of Micky Van de Ven and Ashley Phillips during the summer transfer window. However, they might need to add more depth to the position, especially with the future of Eric Dier uncertain.

The versatile defender could leave the club in the coming months and the North London outfit are looking at potential replacements.

A report from Evening Standard claims that Tottenham are ‘admirers’ of the Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

They were linked with a move for the 26-year-old during the summer window as well. The central defender rejected the option to sign a new contract with Fulham back in June. But it seems that the two parties could now open talks regarding a new contract.

Adarabioyo’s contract with Fulham expires at the end of the season and it remains to be seen whether the Cottagers can convince him to sign an extension. He will be able to move on as a free agent at the end of the season and Fulham will not want to lose him any time soon.

If he refuses to sign a new contract with the London club, Tottenham might be able to snap him up for a knockdown price in January. The 26-year-old is well-settled in the Premier League and he could prove to be a quality acquisition.

He will be able to make an immediate impact and his arrival will add more quality and depth to the side as well. Tottenham have started the season well and they will want to get back into the UEFA Champions League. Signing the right players in January could help them finish the season strongly.
